Call for papers

The ACCES17 / CMBEC35 Joint Conference offers a national forum for information exchange among researchers and practitoners working in the medical technology industry and biomedical engineering.
The main objective of ACCES17/CMBEC35 is to improve communication and encourage collaboraton among all healthcare professionals through the presentation and discussion of new research and current challenges. The Program Committee invites engineers, physicians, scientists, students, technicians and technologists to submit papers for this important event.

Guidelines for Submitting Abstracts

- Title of paper
- Abstract (300 words or less)
- Preferred presentation medium (Podium or Poster)
- Primary author and affiliation
- Co‐Author(s) and their affiliation(s)
- CMBES membership status
- Name and biography of presenting author (75 words or less)
- Student specific information ‐ supervisor’s name, title, institution, telephone and email address

Notification of abstract acceptance will be sent by February 7, 2012.
Upon notification of acceptance, a 2‐4 page final paper must be received by March 20, 2012 for review by the Scientific Committee. To allow for the papers to be subjected to a critical review process, this closing date is final and papers sent after this date will not be accepted.

Presentation of papers will be in podium or poster sessions and the Program Committee reserves the right to decide on the medium to be used for each accepted paper. Page format, presentation and poster guidelines will be provided with notice of acceptance. Whether presented in a podium or poster session, all submissions will be judged equally in both the Outstanding Research and the Student Paper competitons. Note that a selection of conference papers may be published in a special issue of the Journal of Medical and Biological Engineering.
Outstanding Research Competition
A shortlist of outstanding candidates will be selected by the Scientific Review Committee upon submission. Papers and/or oral presentations of the candidates on the short list will be judged at the Conference by the Competition Review Committee. Only members of CMBES or ACCES are eligible for this competition.
The winning submission receives $2000.
Student Paper Competiton
Students of biomedical engineering or technology, clinical engineering and related fields are invited to submit abstracts and/or papers. Only students who are members of CMBES or ACCES will be eligible. The top three students judged to have presented papers of the highest quality will win a cash prize.
